Physiotherapy

What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a method of treatment that has been supported by scientific research and is proven to aid with musculoskeletal pain and discomfort, providing rehabilitation following an injury or operation. It can also help with your recovery following the diagnosis of a neurological disease.

Targeting areas of pain and stiffness and promoting healing and flexibility through movement, massage and acupuncture, physiotherapy is an alternative treatment which seeks to help you to live life without barriers and regain your freedom.

Our holistic approach puts you back in touch with your body. Acknowledging the connections that exist between different areas of the body, we allow several factors to inform our work and take them into consideration when providing treatment.

We understand that some elements relating to general lifestyle and wellbeing can contribute to the issues you’ve been struggling with, and we aim not only to address those issues and provide a solution to the problem, but also to provide you with the education and understanding which will allow you to self-manage the condition moving forward.

At Discover Physio, we can help you to become the best version of yourself by providing treatment in the following areas:

  • Neurological (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s)
  • Musculoskeletal (back pain, whiplash associated disorder, sports injuries, arthritis)
  • Cardiovascular (chronic heart disease, rehabilitation after heart attack)
  • Respiratory (asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis)

“Highly recommend. I was referred to Elaine at DISCOVER Physio & Pilates with a torn right shoulder cuff. At the time, I could barely place my right hand on my hip without experiencing server pain in my shoulder.

Elaine used a combination of acupuncture and laser treatment followed by a series of exercises (homework!) and 12 weeks later, I’m delighted to say I now have over 90% pain free movement in my shoulder. I would highly recommend Elaine to anyone who is in need of a skilful Physiotherapist.”

“My congenital subluxation of the left hip caused my hip joint to partially dislocate daily, this affected my general fitness, sports and even wearing high heels. It was painful and my hip was very weak, it could just pop out of joint at any given time.

The consultation with Elaine was professional, she talked through with me how my muscular imbalance of the hip ball joint could be improved with physiotherapy. She took the time to examine my hip, posture, flexibility and general strength, she created a bespoke programme to strengthen my hip.

Following Elaine’s expertise and advice, my hip began to respond to the treatment quickly, giving me strength, stability and balance.
I not only felt a difference in my hip but my whole body felt stronger and fitter. I can now workout at a higher level than ever before and my snowboarding has drastically improved through my treatment programme.

I have no daily dislocations or pain, and I can wear my high heels!

Thank you so much Elaine.
